It’s the last call for joining the rug hooking class.

Dates:
Session 1 - Tuesday Sep 27 (10:00 am - 3:00 pm)
Session 2 - Tuesday Oct 4 (10:00 am - 2:00 pm)
 
 
Workshop Overview:
 
Session 1
Theme - have fun, discover what you can do with hooking, learn basic techniques, get inspired and start hooking.
 
This session will cover the following:
 

• The tools: hook, hoop, cutter
• The materials: wool, yarn, roving, sari silks
• How to cut wool
• How to handle the hook
• How to use the hoop
• Technique and practice (e.g. how to make the loops, tension, straight vs. random pattern, height, spacing, how to turn a corner, how to finish a strip and start a new one)
• How to start the piece.  

 
Other topics that will be covered include examples of hooked rugs and projects, hooking books and magazines and website resources. 

Session 2
 
Theme - have fun, hook, chat and learn finishing techniques.
 
This session will cover the following:
 

• How to prepare the edges for whipping.
• How to whip the edges.
• How to finish the back of the piece.  The finished piece will be approximately 12”x12”.  It can be used as a trivet, wall hanging or framed picture...or just a piece to place your keys on.
• How to create a simple pattern for your next project:
  • How to make the pattern
  • How to size and prep linen for a pattern
  • How to use red dot to transfer the pattern to the linen
