GREY HERON YARN SHOP NEWS

Hi everyone,
It’s been sometime since I sent out a newsletter, but I thought what a great way to start 2021!!
Most of you know that Grey Heron Yarn Shop has moved to Belleville, Ontario.
We really enjoy our new location but of course miss all our Collingwood shop friends!

With the Covid lockdown in place, we have partnered with Robbie Laughlin to offer classes online using Zoom.
We can meet together in the comfort of our homes, have some fun, meet new friends and learn something new.
We are testing the waters to see who would be interested in taking classes using Zoom.

Bio – Robbie Laughlin is a knitwear designer and instructor living in Toronto, Ontario. He has designed patterns for Estelle Yarns, Eweknit, Rib Magazine, and many other sources. As well as designing, Robbie does photography and tech work for others!

The first classes in our series will be Knitting two socks at a time – toe up

Toe Up Two-at-a-Time Socks 3 hour class
Description: Learn to knit socks the fast and easy way! With Two at a Time toe up socks, there’s no second sock syndrome - and the added benefit of trying them on as you go to get the perfect fit!
Duration/Sessions: 1 session in one day
Techniques covered: Toe Up Sock Cast-on, Magic Loop, Short Rows
Project: Baby Socks
Skill Level: Intermediate - must know how to knit, purl, knit in the round, increase and decrease
Pre-Work: N/A
Required Materials: Two 50g balls of worsted weight yarn in a light colour, 4.0mm 40” Circular needles, 4 stitch markers

The second class is a new offering of Learning to Punch Needle
Punch Needle is the latest craze in the craft world, and in this 3 hour class, you’ll learn all the basics of this fun and addictive traditional technique! Students will make a small sampler that can be used as a wall hanging or pot holder. No experience is necessary. You will receive a Rico Punch Needle, monk’s cloth, and embroidery hoop, plus have a selection of line drawings to choose from – or draw your own!
Yarn used can come from your stash or we can offer you some with your package.

The class timing will be offered at night and on the weekend.
We will aim for the end of January or beginning of February for these two classes.
We have several other classes coming up after that too.

So, let us know if you would be interested in either of these classes. We have a few details yet to finalize – like pricing and timing... TBA
If you have suggestions for a class you’d like to take, let us know that too.

If you’d rather not receive further newsletters, send me a reply email with the subject line “unsubscribe”

Really nice to touch base with you.
Happy New Year,

Stay safe, Karen
