A stable SUP board is like a stable shoulder blade. . If you’re stable on your board, your paddle stroke is more efficient at propelling you forward instead of side-to-side. You’re also able to keep your body more relaxed instead of tensing all your muscles in efforts to calm the board. . This concept is akin to a healthy shoulder. If you can control and keep your shoulder blade (aka your board) stable during movement the action is more efficient requiring less effort of the shoulder muscles, specifically the rotator cuff. . Hence, good shoulder blade muscle control can keep a healthy shoulder happy. .
